With an exhibition currently on at the Tate Modern in London, Sonia Delaunay certainly seems to be an overarching influence currently in Fashion. This is nothing new! She seems to be a constant source of inspiration to the Design Industry and the Art World for her multitude of studies in the integration of color, and exploration of the interception of soft and hard geometric shapes.
Russian born Sonia Delaunay started out with painting at Art School in Germany, then Paris, but before long began creating Designs for Textiles, Apparel though Courturiers and also Stage Production Costumes. All were continued explorations in the same interception of color and geometric layout from small repeating scales to oversized and placed shapes.
Needless to say, I am looking forward to the possibility that the Sonia Delaunay Show will make it to New York City before too long. Long may she Influence!
